So You Want To Be Like Apostle Paul

When we realize the grand impact that Paul had and continues to have on the New Testament church any Christian would quickly say, “I want to be like Paul.” He planted numerous churches, proclaimed the gospel in places the average disciple could have never gone, he penned  two-thirds of the New Testament under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the list goes on and on. That’s the part that makes us want to be like Paul but that is not the whole story. As we look at Paul’s life in 2 Corinthians 11 &12, we see what Paul had to endure because of the impact he made and the times of suffering for the gospel’s sake. We even read that God would not remove or relieve him from the suffering because it was in those times that Paul stayed humble. However, Jesus gave Paul a divine promise….”My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” So if we want to be like Paul we must accept this promise from Christ and press on in difficulties, abuses, persecutions, trials, tribulations, sufferings, abandonment of family and/or friends, beatings, shipwrecks, imprisonment, snake bites, sickness and sorrow. Following Christ is not about being a celebrity but a servant warrior on the front line of the spiritual battle.
